Château Lamothe-Bergeron, Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois 2011

Ref: 00164/FR

About the producer

Deemed to be one of the leading Cru Bourgeois Supérieur wines, Lamothe-Bergeron has always been a benchmark of Haut-Médoc wine. Although the history of the property dates back to 1796, the current Chateau was built in 1868 when the Chateau adopted the name Lamothe-Bergeron. In the early 1970’s the Mestrezat acquired it and totally reorganised the vineyards. The 1980’s were marked by the complete rebuilding of the vatting room and the restoration of the cask cellar. In the 2000’s it was the turn of Crédit Agricole to set the high standards until 2009 when Cognac H Mounier and Cognac Hardy acquired the estate with great dreams and ambitions.

Wine growing / wine making

Working together with Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, who has been aiding the estate since 2009, the foundations have been laid for extremely precise work in the vineyards. The grapes a thoroughly sorted before transportation to the Chateau’s two vat houses (stainless steel and cement). The plots are then vinified separately. Ageing in 30% new French oak barrels for 12 months. Average vine age of 25 years. Vineyard area is 67 hectares.
