Château La Tour de Bessan, Margaux 2019

Ref: 00235/FR

About the producer

Château La Tour de Bessan is a family-owned estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France, known for its elegant, silky red wines produced with sustainable practices and a focus on terroir expression. The name comes from a 13th-century tower, while the modern winery was built in a contemporary style designed by architect Vincent Defos du Rau. The vineyard, which was previously owned by Lucien Lurton, is now managed by his daughter, Marie-Laure Lurton.

Wine growing / wine making

35 hectares on Pyrenean gravel. Average vine age of 25 years. Harvested from 18/09/19 to 10/10/19. Maceration between 15 & 25 days. Yield of 57hl/ha. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. 30% new oak barrels.

Tasting notes

An expressive bouquet of ripe fruit, such as black and red currant, and wild red berries, complemented by notes of toasted coffee, vanilla, cedar, and floral hints. On the palate, it delivers a delicate and ample texture, with juicy fruit flavours and notes of cherry, raspberry, and spice. The tannins are silky, savoury, and elegant, leading to a long, fresh finish.
